“After 20 years, Mayhew’s main kennel block was in need of a refurbishment and we were pleased to approach our good friends at Pedigree Pens who have provided bespoke cat cabins, dog units and recovery cages for our Community Veterinary Clinic over the years and always to a high standard.

As four of our wooden cat pens had begun to show their age we decided the time had come to replace them. After discussing the options available we decided to opt for PVC rather than wood as the pens would be easier for our fosterers to clean on a daily basis and be ready for re-use much sooner in the event of infection. Because they are much lighter than wood it would also be easier to move them should the need arise.

Having seen what was available we contacted Pedigree Pens to obtain information and prices for their products. Paul and Marcus were only too happy to help, responding to our queries promptly and providing any information we needed to ensure we purchased the right products for us (2 double pens on two separate sites).

Once the pens were ordered they kept us informed with progress and were able to offer delivery dates to tie in with the work needed to be done on site before installation.

All dates agreed for delivery were met and Martin and Ed completed the work at both sites on schedule despite the appalling weather.

Inside the pens are light and airy, have really cosy heated “penthouse bedrooms”. The cats that have already been in residence have enjoyed having extra space and their clear views of the world outside their pens. What more could a rescued cat need while waiting for a new family to claim them.

We are delighted with the pens and the service Pedigree Pens provided and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

We first purchased nine Pedigree Pens suites in 2014. They definitely met all the high standards we were looking for: great quality, low maintenance, ease of use and above all, ensuring we could offer the highest standards of hygiene to our feline guests. I approached Pedigree Pens at the end of 1998 to help me with my new venture. I wanted to set up something different and my local council did not want any more wooden units in their district. No websites in those days, no other catteries for me to look at so I went to cat magazines and the good old Exchange and Mart….
